Beautiful throughout, and providing spacious accommodation, this wonderful cottage is a perfect hideaway in this stunning part of Staffordshire. All on one level, Woodside Retreat offers guests a large kitchen/dining room, bedroom with double bed and a shower room. The living room is a great place to relax with patio doors leading out onto a private enclosed patio area with garden furniture.
Situated 5 miles from Stoke-on-Trent and 7½ miles from Leek, the location is fantastic. Staffordshire is packed to the top with world class attractions and things to do and enjoy. Two of the UK’s best theme parks, Alton Towers and Drayton Manor are close by, along with some fantastic outdoor adventures to be had in the stunning countryside. Right from the doorstep, countryside crags, limestone dales and forest tracks are in abundance to be enjoyed.
The famous potteries and ceramics can be found in nearby Stoke-on-Trent with Wedgewood and Emma Bridgewater to name but a few. Explore captivating, haunted castles and atmospheric museums or visit some of Britain’s finest stately homes and gardens. Relax beside the peaceful canals, then enjoy the magnificent medieval Litchfield Cathedral and the incredible Anglo Saxon gold, the Staffordshire Hoard. Sitting on the edge of the peak district you will be spoilt for perfect walks, historic towns and plenty to see and do. About the local area

Leek is the principal town of the Staffordshire Moorlands on the south western edge of the Peak District National Park, situated in an elevated position by the River Churnet. The town has a long history being mentioned in the Doomsday Book, but it certainly pre-dates this.

In the late 18th and 19th centuries the town grew to become a centre of silk weaving and several mills were built at this time, however nothing now remains of the silk industry in Leek today. The town has a bustling shopping centre and a market every Wednesday and provides an excellent base from which to explore the south and western Peak District.

To the north within the Peak District National Park is an area of rock and heather called The Roaches, with Hen Cloud and Ramshaw Rocks, forming a gritstone escarpment which marks the south western edge of the national park. The Roaches consist of two edges, a lower and upper tier, with rock-steps connecting them. Hen Cloud is an imposing solitary edge which rises steeply from the ground. This whole area is well known to walkers and rock climbers, providing some of the best gritstone climbing in the country.
