Perfect for couples or friends alike, a hive of activity is available right on the doorstep including high street and independent shops, delicatessens, restaurants and local pubs complete with live bands.

Recognised from its appearance as ‘Royston Vasey’ in TV’s ‘The League of Gentlemen’, Glossop is also renowned for the sheer amount of nearby outdoor activities, from walking, cycling and mountain biking, to rock climbing, hang gliding and caving. The traffic-free Longendale Trail can also be picked up in Glossop, which stretches for 7 miles from Hadfield to Woodhead Tunnel, and is accompanied by spectacular scenery.

Kinder Apartment is a lovely first floor apartment offering spacious, open plan accommodation and a comfortable bedroom with a kingsize bed that can be arranged as twin beds if required, making this the ideal choice for both couples and friends. As the gateway to the beautiful Peak District National Park, an abundance of Peak District towns and villages such as Edale, Castleton, and the famous spa town of Buxton are all within a 30-minute drive, together with the ever popular market town of Bakewell and magnificent Chatsworth House, 45 minutes away. Slightly closer to home you’ll find the award-winning Millennium Walkway, and superb Torrs sandstone gorge at New Mills, 15 minutes away. The wonderful village of Hayfield neighbours Glossop, and is popular with walkers due its close proximity to Kinder Scout. Hayfield caters well for tourists with its own collection of pubs, cafes and restaurants. If you’re looking for city life, the bright lights of Manchester are just a half hour’s drive away, or 30 minutes on a direct train from Glossop. Shop 170 yards, pub and restaurant 20 yards.

About the local area

Nestling in the foothills of the Pennines, with Kinder Scout to the south and Bleaklow to the northeast, Glossop is situated in the north west of the county; handily placed for exploring the High Peak, with its rugged moorland, varied wildlife and excellent walks

The original old town, `Old Glossop', has some fine 17th and 18th century cottages centred on a market square and cross. Glossop Brook, which flows through the old town, is perfect for a leisurely stroll.

In the town centre itself there are many shops, an indoor and outdoor market and with two parks there's plenty of open green space to enjoy; Manor Park with 60 acres of woodland, lakes and gardens, including a miniature railway and children's playground and Howard's Park which is smaller but equally pleasant.

To the north is the Longdendale valley, with five reservoirs and the Longdendale trail, a walking and cycle route which follows this picturesque valley and forms part of the Trans-Pennine Trail. The former mill villages of Padfield and Hadfield which overlook the valley and Tintwistle are all good bases from which to explore the area.

Overlooked by Kinder Scout to the south are the villages of Hayfield and Little Hayfield which are popular with walkers and mountain bikers.
