About the local area

It is hard to imagine in this quiet corner of the town that all the shops, cafes and delis are just a few yards away. Bakewell’s little courtyards, medieval bridge over the River Wye and a growing reputation as ’foodie paradise’ make it a lovely town to stroll around. There is a wide choice of places to eat, from traditional pubs to renowned restaurants and friendly cafes. For longer walks you can venture to one of the many picturesque villages or the stately homes of Chatsworth or Haddon Hall. Alternatively try a bike ride along the superb Monsal Trail, a former railway line which offers traffic free cycling through tunnels and across spectacular viaducts. The award winning Chatsworth Farm Shop, just outside the town, is a treat not to be missed.
