Buxton is  ideally situated in the heart of the Peak District, with its imposing architecture such as the Crescent and the Devonshire Dome. The beautiful Pavilion Gardens and Opera House hosts an all year round programme of events, from summer and winter markets to festivals and operas of every kind. The Monsal and Tissington Trail are ideal traffic free cycling and walking routes boasting spectacular scenery, and Poole’s Cavern, Solomon’s Temple, The Goyt valley and Corbar Cross are all but a short distance away. The grand stately homes of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Lyme Park are a must see, as are the historic market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne and all the pretty villages in between these, which are all a short drive or bus ride away and offer a relaxing place to shop in thier little courtyards and narrow streets. Autumn and winter in Buxton are spectacular months to visit with the beautiful brown and copper coloured trees to the snow covered peaks and dales
