Originally a much loved home rather than a holiday let, Silk Hill Stables still retains its homely ambiance with many original features and great attention to detail. This spacious one bedroom stable conversion is on a working livery and offers comfortable accommodation in scenic rural surroundings on the edge of the Peak District National Park. From the owner’s gate the famous Kinder Scout can be seen and there are many picturesque walks direct from the doorstep. For those with four-legged travelling companions a dog hatch leads from the kitchen into the completely enclosed patio area, with seating and barbecue which is great for the long summer nights. You’ll find lots of useful doggy extras, and as an added bonus by prior arrangement with the owner there is even a secure enclosed field a short walk from the property where you can let your dogs have a run around stress free. A short walk will take you into the small friendly town of Whaley Bridge where you’ll find food serving pubs, some dog friendly, cafés and restaurants. There is also a train station with direct services to both Manchester and Buxton. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub ¼ mile.

About the local area

Whaley Bridge is an attractive small town in the High Peak. It is often referred to as the Gateway to the Goyt Valley, the area offers outstanding natural beauty which is great for walkers, tourists and those seeking different types of adventure. Kinder Scout is a gritstone plateau, which stands at around 600 metres above sea level and has breath taking views from the summit. The Kinder plateau is surrounded with rocky crags and to the west is the Kinder River which flows into the spectacular waterfall called Kinder Downfall. To the east of Kinder is further high land heading towards "Hope Cross" which links Kinder to Win Hill and the Hope Valley. Within the Hope Valley area is Castleton which offers stunning views of Mam Tor and the famous Winnat’s Pass, with many interesting caves containing the rare semi precious stone - Blue John.
This property has the benefit of being located within a stone’s throw of Buxworth Canal basin and the famous Navigation public house. From the basin are lovely scenic walks along the canal and the pub offers great lunches and evening meal menus. It is a very popular area throughout the long summer months. Close by is the town of Buxton, which offers something for everyone. From the Pavilion Gardens, and Opera House, the Dome and the country park, to the shops in Spring Gardens or on the Market Place, you will find somewhere to eat, drink, swim, ride a miniature train, or visit the popular Poole’s Cavern!
The property is situated in the centre of the Peak District where you are never far from a stunning attraction or wonderful walking. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Castleton Caverns, Lyme Park, Crich Tramway Museum, Carsington Water, the Roaches, the Monsal Trail or even Alton Towers are a short distance from Buxton.
