This is an outstanding location with access to local walks and longer trails. Buxton, Bakewell, Castleton, Chatsworth and Lyme Park all 15-30 minutes drive away.

About the local area

Set in the village of Sparrow Pit, the cottage has a rural location in the heart of the Peak District National Park. The local village pub is called ’The Wanted Inn’ and is only a short walk from the cottage offering a friendly welcome home cooked food and real ales. The small market town of Chapel-en-le-Firth is a short car journey away and has a number of pubs, restaurants and takeaways with a supermarket and local convenience shops. The town also offers an excellent golf course and leisure centre. Not far from Sparrow Pit is the popular Hope Valley where the interesting villages of Castleton, Hope, Edale and Hathersage can be found. All have fabulous walking, cycling and in the village of Castleton are the famous Blue John Caves and the historic Pevril Castle.
Close by is the popular spa town of Buxton, with its fabulous Opera House and delightful Spring Gardens. It has many different types of bars, restaurants and cafes with an abundance of local shops. Poole’s Cavern is worth a visit and for the more adventurous there is the Go Ape sight where you can swing through the trees in safety harnesses. The market town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings and tarts and is a short car journey away and has some lovely walks, cycle routes and a regular farmers market. Chatsworth House and Park and Haddon Hall are nearby and both are full of history with stunning gardens and great walks. It is a great base for walking, cycling, riding and paragliding
