About the local area

Bakewell itself has a picturesque river and a weekly market in the square. Close by are the fascinating stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, both with beautiful gardens. Alton Towers is within easy reach by car and provides a fun packed day out.
The area is surrounded by stunning walks and great cycle routes and is close to many pretty village pubs where you can enjoy good home cooked food. A short drive away is the spa town of Buxton, with its Opera house and pleasant gardens and many shops, bars and cafes.
The Hope Valley a short drive away offering an abundance of walks and bridleways. It has two famous hills located in Hope - Win and Lose Hill and in Edale you can start the Pennine Way. Castleton has a number of exciting caves to visit and a castle perched on the hillside overlooking the superb valley.
