Just five miles from Leek The Roaches are a wind carved outcrop of gritstone rocks just waiting to be climbed!

There are many diverse routes to be enjoyed here and there are also many miles of paths which should please the avid rambler! On clear days it is possible to see much of Cheshire, Snowdon in Wales and Winter Hill in Lancashire!

The Roaches are also famous because of their unique wildlife! In the 1930's five wallabies were released into the wild from a private collection. Although their numbers increased and were seen by many locals there are now known to be only one or two left roaming closeby. A pair of Peregrine Falcons have also been successfully bred on the Roaches (please take care when climbing).
