Macclesfield Forest and the surrounding land is a great place to enjoy a quiet forest walk with paths, bridleways and many waymarked paths suitable for horse riding and cycling. Wildlife is in abundance with plant species which include Bilberry, Tormentil, Bedstraw and Foxglove. Along with these come the animals and birds, deer, badgers, Tufted ducks and Teal little Grebe can all be spotted.

The majority of walks are uphill which mean you will get a great viewpoint of the reservoir and its birdlife once you have climbed up. There are a number of benches and rest points as well as information boards. Visitors can enjoy three walks which all start at Trentabank car park. Ranging from one hour to four hours all numbered and waymarked they are great for discovering the area on horse back.
