The rivers Wye, Dove, Lathkill and Derwent are world famous for being the home of fly fishing whilst both the Ladybower and Carsington Reservoirs are great for coarse fishing with day tickets easily purchased from the major fisheries. Day tickets for river fishing can be hard to come by because of their popularity. The best place to try is the River Derwent just below Ladybower Reservoir or the River Wye close to Rowlsey.
Ladybower Reservoir is perhaps the most famous of all the reservoirs in the Peak District. Constructed in 1943, the three mile long pool of water is surrounded by rolling countryside and a fantastic variety of wildlife. The spectacular scenery mixed with the well stocked waters means fishing here is a relaxing and fruitful experience. Expect to catch Rainbows, Browns and Triploids.
Another fantastic place to fish is Carsington Water. Home to a large trout fishery the water is well stocked with rainbow and brown trout. With over 750 acres of clear water and boats for hire it's easy to spend much of your holiday in this tranquil setting.
