The Upper Derwent Valley

The Upper Derwent Valley is an extremely popular area for tourist and those who live in the area. Visitors come here to enjoy the attractive mix of water and woodland within the surrounding moorland. The main road winds up the left flank of Ladybower, Derwent and Howden Reservoirs for nearly eight miles to a turnaround at King’s Tree.

There is a Visitor Centre in the main car park where you can pick up all the information you will need for your day of exploration! There is a cycle hire centre also available from here with a comprehensive range of bikes to suit all abilities.

Keen walkers can undertake The Derwent Valley Heritage Way which has been way-marked using small yellow and purple disks. The route starts close to Ladybower Reservoir and continues down the valley. The total distance of the way is 55 miles and goes all the way down to Bamford.
