The property is an original railway workers cottage situated in an idyllic setting in the Wyedale valley  nestling right next to the River Wye. There are many walks and trails in all directions directly from the front door. This cosy cottage offers comfortable accommodation and has a  unique position in a stunning and peaceful location. It is at the beginning of the famous Monsal Trail that was fully opened in 2011 and runs for 10 miles along a disused railway track over viaducts and through lit tunnels to Bakewell. Cycles are available for hire at special rates to guests from the Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire directly opposite the cottage.

About the local area

The property is close to the pretty market town of Bakewell, offering many quaint shops, pubs with home cooked food and  quality restaurants. It has an interesting weekly market selling fruit, vegetables and general household requirements. Close by is Haddon Hall with its stunning gardens and setting and and the stately home of Chatsworth House and Gardens with fantastic scenery and walks and a fabulous historic house to view.
The spa town of Buxton is nearby and has a popular Opera House showing many famous stars and top acts from around the country. The town also has numerous bars, restaurants, shops and cafes to entertain the whole family. For the adventurous amongst us there is Poole's Cavern and Going Ape in Buxton where you can swing from the trees like apes or explore the underground world. Matlock and Matlock Bath is only a 1/2 hour drive away and has many interesting walks, cycle routes and attractions such as The Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom. Cromford is worth a visit too with the famous Massom Mill, now converted to an outlet shopping centre but still offers trips around the original weaving mills on site.
