To the north is situated The High Peak, with heather-clad moorland renowned for its rare wildlife and great walking country. Climb Mam Tor for superb views or maybe walk to Kinder Scout where the Mass Trespass of 1932 took place. Further south the craggy gritstone edges and limestone valleys of the Derbyshire Dales also offers visitors great walking and cycling and here there are many enchanting villages and historic market towns dotted throughout the countryside waiting to be discovered.
 

Over to the west of the Peak District, the expansive vistas of the Staffordshire Moorlands include The Roaches, an area popular with climbers who scale towering gritstone edges which overlook tranquil lakes and reservoirs.
