Description
A truly luxurious, romantic pair of barn conversions set in an idyllic location. These superb conversions have been restored to a very high standard and offer guests a peaceful, relaxing stay. Nestling in 12 acres of grounds on the owners' impressive 19th century farm (which featured on the television programme - "Build a New Life in the country"), and alongside its own bridle path; these properties are situated only 800 yards from Calwich Abbey and the River Dove, the inspiration for the famous "Handel's Water Music". The area is renowned for excellent fishing and walking with the pretty market town of Ashbourne and the natural beauty of Dovedale only 3 miles away. Gorsey Hayes has been carpeted upstairs with the same, sumptuous carpet used in “The Palace!” and has a stunning Yorkshire flagstone floor throughout the downstairs. Handel’s Muse has a cosy, elegant style with quality furnishings. Both properties have been tastefully and lovingly restored to an extremely high standard with top quality appliances and fittings.
Visitors can hire cycles and ride or walk the Tissington Trail. The cottages are only a stone's throw away from the Limestone Way which runs from Rocester to the picturesque, famous Blue John village of Castleton set in the Hope Valley close to the start of the Pennine Way. Alton Towers is within a 5 mile drive with Carsington Water offering a variety of water sports and bird watching also a short drive away. The popular town of Uttoxeter (famous for its racecourse) offers additional family entertainment including cinema, bowling and quality bars and restaurants all within an 8 mile drive.
Less than a half hour drive, and well worth a visit, can be found the stately home of Chatsworth, historic Haddon Hall, Buxton Spa, Heights of Abraham/Matlock Bath with its cable car and caverns and not to mention the market town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings and tarts. The owner can offer stabling and grazing for horses and ponies by direct arrangement and the property, which has a bridle path, is set in an area with an abundance of suitable riding terrain. There is an orchard to the rear of the property with a double BBQ available if required. As the properties have extensive grounds the owner is happy for older children to camp in the surrounding field. There is also a children’s play area with a trampoline and swing with bark flooring, and a pleasant double stone terrace with seating.
Horse turning-out facilities are available for a couple of horses/ponies by prior arrangement with owner.
Special celebration nights can be arranged at the local award winning pub and restaurant by direct contact. Other activities which can be pre booked or organised for guests include, golf, shooting, wine tasting, riding and even paragliding on Darley Moor (weather permitting). The owner offers the added facility of DVD library and CD selection. Space is available for safe storage of cycles or motor bikes.
