Description

This tastefully decorated terrace property has an elevated position overlooking the surrounding area. The property nestles on the hillside with local woods close by and many interesting walks start from the doorstep. The popular town of Matlock and Matlock Bath are a 5 minute drive away. Two Dales is a small village on the outskirts of Matlock and has a number od local shops to stock up the larder and is an excellent base for the start of many different walks.

Nearby Matlock is a beautiful town on the edge of the Peak District National Park and lies alongside the River Derwent. This is one of the most popular tourist areas in Derbyshire and you can enjoy spending time in the town, along the river or venture into the Peak District. There's loads to see and do in and around this area and this includes access to all the local attractions including Matlock Bath, where the popular attractions of Gulliver's Kingdom and The Heights of Abraham are based.

Only a short drive away are the interesting and stunning stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, both with lovely gardens and great walks, Bakewell has the weekly market and the River Derwent running through it. It boasts many quaint, country shops and winding roads and is famous for its puddings and tarts.

The Hope Valley is a 20  minute drive away and is a large, wide valley running east to west along the boundary between the grit stone moors and edges of the 'Dark Peak' and the limestone dales of the 'White Peak'. Best known as wonderful walking country, it is also a haven for many others including bikers and pony trekkers.

In Castleton is Mam Tor, named the 'Shivering Mountain' which heads the valley. Now a launch pad for hang gliders, it was once the home of Iron Age people whose fort can still be seen on top of the hill. The spectacular Winnat's Pass is the only road in from the west, threading its way between steep limestone crags in an area honeycombed with potholes and old lead mines, source of the unique and attractive Blue John stone. There are many interesting areas to tour and visit, which makes this cottage a great base to explore from.
