This large cottage, which has been tastefully decorated and equipped to a high standard, occupies an impressive position in the centre of this peaceful Derbyshire village. The kitchen/diner has high quality units and appliances, providing an excellent area for entertaining. An inviting wood burning stove creates a cosy retreat in the living room. The same high standard is continued into the bedrooms. The cottage sits within a small walled garden and has a larger fully enclosed garden across the lane. Situated mid way between the small towns of Tideswell (famous for its impressive church) and Bradwell (famous for its ice cream) Little Hucklow is a quaint hamlet in the heart of the Peak District. The surrounding area boasts many beautiful, interesting villages with plenty of attractions. Castleton with its renowned caves where Blue John, a unique semi precious stone which is only mined in the area is a short drive away. The famous 'Plague Village' of Eyam is 6 miles away and slightly further afield is the picturesque market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House in its glorious parkland. Similarly the spa town of Buxton with its Opera House and Spring Gardens is only a short drive away.
Bertin Cottage offers a fantastic base from which to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, from walking and mountain biking to more adventurous pursuits for those so inclined. The stunning scenery of the Dark Peak around Edale and Hathersage is close by, with the start of the Pennine Way across Kinder Scout being only 9 miles away in Edale itself. The softer but no less beautiful White Peak lies just to the south with the valleys of Millers Dale and Monsal Dale being particularly close at hand. There are numerous pubs and restaurants to suit every taste in the surrounding villages and towns. Bertin Cottage is an excellent base for touring this beautiful area.
