Description

This authenticly restored nineteenth century mill workers cottage is situated at the foot of Teggs Nose hill in the village of Langley, a charming village on the Cheshire/Derbyshire border on the western edge of the Peak District. Nestled between Macclesfield Forest and Teggs Nose Country Park the area makes a superb location for walking and mountain biking. An ascent of Shutingsloe, the "Cheshire Matterhorn", can be undertaken directly from the village.

A stream runs through the bottom of the patio area and the views of Teggs Nose and surrounding hills can be admired from the balcony. The reservoir at the foot of Teggs Nose (less than 100 yards) is ideal for an evening stroll and is a pleasant spot for fly fishing (visitors day passes can be obtained).

The area has an abundance of great pubs, many of which serve excellent food. Langley itself has two pubs including one CAMRA awarded pub less than 100 yards from the cottage. A local farm which produces its own ice cream makes a great trip out for adults and kids alike!

Langley and the surrounding Macclesfield Forest is a great place for wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers. The forest has a herd of red deer, most easily seen during the rutting season in October. Langley's two reservoirs are home to many wildlife including little and great crested grebes and the larch trees on the shore of Trentabank reservoir are the nesting sites of the largest heronry in the Peak District.

The historic spa town of Buxton, according to The Sunday Times  "Britain's most enchanting and hospitable festival town" is eight miles away. Its regal architecture combines with cultural attractions such as Buxton Opera House - one of  Britain's leading provincial theatres. Buxton also has two challenging golf courses which can be booked by non - members.
